FAQ

Everything people ask before their first mobile oil change.

If yours is not here, call (319) 302-8646. A person answers.

How it works

How does a mobile oil change work?

You book a weekday time and tell us where the vehicle will be parked. A technician arrives in a fully equipped van, drains the old oil into a sealed tank, replaces the filter, fills with full synthetic, checks fluids and tire pressure, cleans up, and leaves. It takes about 30 minutes and you do not need to be there.

Where do you serve?

Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, and Robins, Iowa. Travel inside that area is included in the price. If you are just outside it, call and we will tell you right away whether we can come.

Do I need to be home?

No, but we need the keys. We use them to open the hood, run the engine, and reset the oil life monitor. Hand them over, leave them in a lockbox, or leave them with a neighbor or the front desk, and be reachable by phone. Many customers are at work or inside the house the whole time.

What do I need to do before you arrive?

Park on a level, firm surface with room to open the hood, and make sure we can get the keys: in hand, in a lockbox, or with a neighbor or front desk. Be reachable by phone. That is all.

What if it rains or snows?

Light rain is fine. Severe weather, ice, or unsafe conditions and we will reach out to reschedule at no charge, and you get the next available slot.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before your appointment. Inside 24 hours, or if the vehicle is not there when we arrive, a $25 trip fee may apply.

Where we can work

Can you do my oil change at work?

Yes. Office lots and job sites are a large part of what we do. Make sure the property owner or site supervisor is fine with it, and we handle the rest during your shift.

Can you come to an apartment complex?

Usually. Some complexes prohibit vehicle work in their lots, so check with your property manager first. We use drip mats and capture equipment, and we leave nothing behind, which most managers are glad to hear.

Does the driveway need to be level?

Reasonably. A normal residential driveway or parking stall is fine. A steep slope, gravel that will not hold a jack stand, or deep snow are the things that stop us.

The oil and the vehicle

What type of oil do you use?

Full synthetic manufactured by Highline Warren, the producer behind Rain-X and a leading distributor of Mobil 1 products. It meets or exceeds API SP, ILSAC GF-6A, and Dexos1 Gen 3. We do not carry conventional or blended oil.

Will this void my warranty or lease?

No. Under federal law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) a manufacturer cannot void your warranty because someone other than the dealer changed your oil, as long as the correct specification oil and filter are used and you keep records. We use oil that meets the manufacturer specifications and you get a dated record of every service.

What vehicles do you service?

Most cars, trucks, and SUVs, including most light-duty diesel pickups. Tell us the year, make, and model when you book and we will confirm.

How often should I change full synthetic oil?

Follow your owner's manual or the oil life monitor. For most modern engines on full synthetic that is every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or once a year. Iowa winters, lots of short trips, and towing all shorten it. We can text you when yours is due.

Do you reset the oil life monitor?

Yes, on every vehicle that has one.

Are you a mobile mechanic?

No. We do oil changes and closely related items like engine and cabin air filters. We do not do repairs or diagnostics, which means we have no reason to upsell you. If we see something, we tell you and you take it to a shop you trust.

What happens to the used oil?

It goes into a sealed tank in the van along with the old filter and is recycled through a licensed collector. Nothing is poured, spilled, or left at your property.
