Oil To Go is a Cedar Rapids business with one job: take the oil change off your to-do list without taking your afternoon with it.
Why we started
An oil change is a thirty-minute job that costs most people two hours: the drive, the lobby, the upsell conversation, the drive back. For a business with trucks it is worse, because the person waiting in the lobby is on the payroll. We started Oil To Go because the work is simple, the equipment fits in a van, and there was no reason the van could not come to you.
Who shows up
A certified technician in a white Oil To Go van, on time or with a text when we are running behind. We are local to the Cedar Rapids metro and we only serve Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, and Robins, which is how we stay fast. You will see the same faces, not a rotating cast.
What is in the van
Everything a shop bay has, packed onto shelves: full synthetic oil on metered hose reels so we can fill to the ounce, a sealed tank for the used oil, jacks and stands rated for trucks, filters for the vehicles we see most, drip mats, absorbents, and a shop vac. Nothing comes out of your garage and nothing gets left behind.
Why we only carry full synthetic
Carrying one oil means one tank, one price, and no "would you like to upgrade" conversation. The oil is manufactured by Highline Warren, the company behind Rain-X and a leading distributor of Mobil 1 products, and it is licensed to API SP, ILSAC GF-6A, and Dexos1 Gen 3. It is the same specification a dealer would put in, in your driveway, for a flat price.
What we will not do
- Repairs. We are not a mobile mechanic. If we spot a problem during the inspection we photograph it, note it on your record, and tell you. You take it to a shop you trust.
- Upsells. There is no counter to walk you to. The price you booked is the bill, plus only what we told you about before we started.
- Leave a mess. Drip mats go down first. Used oil and the old filter leave with us and are recycled through a licensed collector.
- Make you wait. You do not need to be present. Leave the keys where we can get them and go about your day.
